Cyber law is a sub-sect of the law involving, primarily, the Internet and “cyberspace”. Interwoven with the sub-sect are personality rights (particularly privacy rights); e-commerce; disputes relating to domains; common law competition; and ICT infrastructure. Cyber Law comprises both domestic South African Law and International law. Examples of applicable statutes are: the European General Data Protection Regulations, the soon to be promulgated, South African Cyber Crimes Act, and the Protection of Personal Information Act, No. 4 of 2013.
