During the period August 1979 to December 1985, I was lecturer and thereafter senior lecturer in the Faculty of Law, University of Natal, Durban. Part-time lecturer in Company Law during 1986 at the University of Witwatersrand. In excess of 12 articles published in law journals and a series of book reviews.
Awarded the Hilgard Muller Prize for best final year student – LLB (Unisa), Fullbright Scholar in 1997-1998 – LLM at the Southern Methodist University, Dallas, USA and British Council Scholar in 1984 – LLM at the University of London (LSE).
I have represented clients in a number of public interest matters, including high profile labour disputes. I have also presided as an acting judge in the High Court and Labour Court, and a number of my judgments have been published and/or formed the very basis of critical discussion.
I have acted as chairperson in excess of 100 disciplinary enquiries, a number of my findings have been distributed in the legal fraternity. I frequently arbitrate in civil disputes and recently act as mediator on a diverse range of issues, including family law, construction disputes, environment matters and other regulatory matters.
Overall, I conduct a busy practice, representing all sections of the population, including interest groups, unions, employees, employers and organs of state.
